Product property

They are white, fine powder, insoluble in water. When mixed with hot, strong mineral acids, they decomposed into stearic acid and corresponding calcium salts.They are widely used as lubricants, slipping agents, heat-stabilizers, mould releasing agents and accelerants in plastic, machinery engineering, rubber, paints and inks industry etc.

Application

l Zinc stearate is a good lubricant for rubber compounds.It is an effective dusting agent to prevent uncured stock from sticking together. Being soluble in the rubber at elevated temperatures it will be absorbed in the rubber during the final cure, thereby providing a better finish than inert materials.

l In polystyrene, zinc stearate not only has proven to be the most efficient lubricant ,but also act as an effective color dispersin agent. Avoidance of color degradation in the melted state can be important in the application.

l In polypropylene zinc stearate may be used to improve pigment dispersion.

l The addition of zinc stearatee to the molding polyethylene beads will facilitate improved mold release and avoid costly machine down-time.

l For use in premix molding of reinforced polyesters, zinc stearate can be used to facillite mold release, avoid machine down-time and minimize surface bloom.

l In addition zinc stearate has been often used in phenolic and ABS compounds.
